Kulgam:Ten policemen were trapped after a snow avalanche hit a police post near Jawahar Tunnel in Kulgam area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Thursday amid heavy snowfall.
SSP Kulgam Harmeet Singh told that a massive avalanche hit the police post this evening.
“10 policemen are safe while ten others are trapped under snow,” he said, adding that a massive rescue operation is underway.
He said the rescue operation is being carried out jointly by the state police, army and the locals.
“Avalanche has hit the police post at JT area Kulgam. Rescue teams on job. Information is preliminary in nature. More details are awaited,” police said on Twitter.
