Ganderbal, Mar 20: With the emphasis on oral health and hygiene “World Oral Health Day” was observed in the District Early Intervention Centre (DEIC), at District Hospital Ganderbal here today.
On the occasion, inaugurated by the Chief Medical Officer, Dr. RD Kasana, an awareness programme followed by the medical check-up and a drawing competition was organised. The program witnessed participation of more than 100 children belonging to different education and welfare institutions.
Medical Superintendent DH Ganderbal Dr. Mehraj-ud-Din, Deputy CMO Dr. Nighrat, DHO Dr. Afroza Shah, DIO Dr. Masrat, Dr. Ijtaba Shafi (Incharge School Health) and other medical officers and technical staff were also present on the occasion.
The programme began with an awareness lecture on proper hand washing and children were trained for proper hand-washing procedures to be implemented before and after the consumption of food.
Dr. Amira Majid, Dental Surgeon at DEIC, described the need and importance of dental health and demonstrated various brushing and cleaning techniques.
The children were also checked for other medical issues where Dr. Haris Nazir (consultant pediatrician), Dr. Abid Wani (Medical Officer ISM), Dr. Manzoor Magray (Sr. Physiotherapist) discharged their duties to ensure these children are not facing any health issues.
The first three positions in the drawing competition were awarded with prizes. Besides, free toothpastes, tooth brushes, mouthwash and refreshment etc were distributed among all participants.
The programme was organised by the DEIC unit of NHM at District Hospital Ganderbal, hosted by Dr. Amira (Dental Surgeon) and assisted by Dr. Haris, Dr. Manzoor, Aijaz Rasool and other officials of DEIC.
