Poonch, Nov 14 : Police and army on Wednesday arrested two “militants” from Pulwama in Sarknkote area in Poonch district of Jammu region.
“Based on a specific information one Tavera (JK01R-5936) which was coming from Mendhar and going to Sarknkote was intercepted by SOG Poonch headed by DSP and 25 RR of the army near Jaranwali Gali Surankote,” a police officer told GNS.
The driver of the car and a person travelling in it were detained, he said, adding, after sustained interrogation they said turned out to be militants identified as Shabir Ahmed son of Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din of Kakapora Pulwama and Mohammad Aqib, also a resident of Kakapora Pulwama.
“During the search, two AK 56 rifle and two magazine were recovered from both,” he said.
Meanwhile, sources said that they have dropped five militants in Jaranwali Gali and they are carrying black bags.
Following the disclosure, they said, a massive search operation has been launched in Jaranwali Gali, Kali, Gursai and Pathanateer village to the nab the suspected militants.
The police officer said that it could be a part of militant plan to disturb upcoming elections to Panchayat elections. (GNS)
