Any person found indulging in illegal mining,will take strict action against him under law

Srinagar 11 Feb (KNZ): The Geology and Mining department Pulwama has taken strict action against illegal mining, extraction, and transportation of raw materials in various areas of Pulwama District. During raids conducted since last five months, a total of 281 vehicles and machinery were seized and 87 lakh fine recovered so far.
An official stated that these vehicles were found to be involved in illegal activities related to mining and transportation of raw materials.
Under the leadership of District Mineral Officer (DMO) Er. Mohammad Manzoor, the department has adopted a zero-tolerance policy towards illegal mining.
DMO Pulwama Er. Mohammad Manzoor mentioned that the crackdown on sand and boulder mining is ongoing in different parts of the district.
In last five months, fines totaling Rs 87 lakh were imposed for various offenses related to illegal mining. The department conducted raids both during the day and night to apprehend offenders.
In order to prevent further illegal activities, the department disconnected ramps used by trippers and tractors to access Nallah embankments and load bajri. However, these ramps were rebuilt by offenders overnight.
The DMO of Pulwama highlighted that the entire team is on high alert to monitor illegal mining in the district. He assured that all cases of illegal mining would be promptly dealt with according to the rules, ensuring appropriate actions are taken against the violators through a fast-track system.
These efforts by the department aim to curb illegal mining and safeguard the natural resources of the Pulwama district. (KNZ)
