Three kids from Srinagar tested positive

Kashmir has witnessed 3rd death from Covid-19 infection. A Covid-19 infected man from Gund Jahangir area of North Kashmir’s Bandipora district died at SMHS Hospital on Tuesday afternoon.

Though, Medical Superintendent SMHS, Dr Nazir Chowdary told KNT that the man was suffering from Pneumonia and he has been waiting for the report to ascertain whether the person was a Covid-19 patient or not, but, Nodal Officer for Coronavirus Sumbal, Syed Shahnawaz Bukhari confirmed to KNT that the deceased was infected with Covid-19 and was shifted to hospital for treatment. “Yes, the man was tested positive for Covid-19 infection and unfortunately he died in Srinagar hospital today,” Bukhari said.

Bukhari added that district administration has been asked to do the burial of the deceased as per the Covid-19 protocol.

Pertinently, a man from Hyderpora, originally an inhabitant from Sopore town and a man from Tangmarg have died of Covid-19 infection in Kashmir Valley. Out of total 114, there are 107 active cases of Coronaviurs in Jammu and Kashmir.

Meanwhile, three kids of family were tested positive for Covid-19 here in Srinagar on Tuesday.

The family from Alamdar Colony Lal Bazar had already a member tested positive and today two little daughters and nephew of that man were tested positive.

The elderly man from the Lal Bazar had arrived in Srinagar on March 17 from Kolkatta and after testing positive, his family members were quarantined at Hazratbal. “We had collected the samples of the family members some three days ago and today the tests of two little sisters, 11 and 9 years of age and a kid, the cousin of these sisters, 13 years of age were found positive,” a health official told KNT.

He said all these kid are however, asymptomatic.

Meanwhile, medicos at JLNM Hospital Rainawari took samples of Goripora Noorbagh family who had come into contact with a religious preacher. “The samples of the Noorbagh family were collected and reports are awaited,” he said adding that 32 samples of Covid-19 suspects were collected today at the hospital.
