Pulwama June 08: In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, Pulwama Police have arrested four notorious drug peddlers.
Police spokesman told in a statement,Acting on the directions of SHO Pulwama, a police party from Police Station Pulwama established a Naka checkpoint at Chitrepora, Pulwama. During the checking, a drug peddler identified as Shahid Salam Ganie, S/O Ab Salam Ganie, R/O Sirnoo, was apprehended along with a contraband substance.
In this regard, a case under FIR number 108/2024 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Pulwama, and an investigation was initiated.
Following Shahid Salam Ganie’s disclosure and the evidence surfaced during the investigation, police conducted raids at multiple locations, resulting in the recovery of a heroin-like substance weighing approximately 80 grams. Consequently, three more accused persons were arrested. They have been identified as: 1.Abrar Farooq S/O Farooq Ahmad Khan R/o Prichoo 2. Tariq Ahmad Ganie, S/o Bashir Ahmad Ganie, R/o Chandgam and 3. Fayaz Ahmad Wani, S/o Ab Ahad Wani, R/o Chandgam.
The investigation into the matter is ongoing, and more recoveries and arrests are expected as the police intensify their efforts to combat drug trafficking in the region.
