Anantnag, Jan 27 : At least 4 soldiers sustained injuries in a mysterious blast in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district.

Police said they are ascertaining the facts and the nature of the blast. “Soldiers from 24 Rashtriya Rifles were passing close to a school building, when blast occurred. Four soldiers sustained injuries while roof of the school building suffered partial damage,” said an official.

He told KNT that there were minimum presence of people when the blast occurred. “We are trying to find out whether it was a grenade blast or and IED had been planted there. It is subject to investigation,” he said.

Another police official said that prima facie it seems to be an IED blast.

The blast took place in Subhanpora, Shamsipora area along Srinagar-Jammu Highway in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district.

The injured soldiers were airlifted to Srinagar based 92 Base Army Hospital where the condition of a soldier is stated to be critical.

The area was under cordon when this report was being filed. (KNT)
