Ganderbal 24 Nov (KNZ):After instant complaints a team of officials from Geology and Mining Department Ganderbal today laid crackdown at Akhal and adjoining area in Tehsil Kangan of Ganderbal and seized five vehicles for illegal mining.
Reports said during the exercise, five loaded vehicles including 1 tipper and 4 tractors involved in illegal mining were seized.
After seizure by the department, the vehicles were kept in police custody till the realisation of penalty as per the mining rules.
The teams also checked the enforcement of notified rates of minor minerals and advised consumers to purchase minerals from legal sources only and stay away from illegal miners.KNZ
