Ganderbal 21 August (KNZ):In its continued efforts to curb illegal mining in the Ganderbal district, on the Direction of DMO Ganderbal Er Zulfikar Mohd Shafi, the Geology and Mining Team today seized 6 vehicles found involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minor minerals in Gund and Sonamarg area of Ganderbal District
The operation was carried out by Geology and Mining Department with the help of Ganderbal police in various areas of Ganderbal including Gund and Sonamarg tourist resort as a result of which 06 vehicles including 3 tippers and 3 tractors were seized.After seizure by the department, the vehicles were kept in police custody till the realisation of penalty as per the mining rules.
DMO Ganderbal Er Zulfikar Mohd Shafi requests the people not to indulge in any kind of illegal mining activities from any Nallah as it is the violation of Government rules.
Any person found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt as per law,he added
It is worthwhile to mention that the Geology and Mining Department is continuously conducting surprise raids in the areas having apprehension of illegal mining in Ganderbal District.KNZ
