Ganderbal:Seven Days High-End Workshop on “Ensuring food security and safety through research and development in livestock sector” concludes today at Faculty Outreach Centre FVSc & AH, Shuhama with a brief valedictory function.
The workshop was organized by Division of Veterinary & Animal Husbandry Extension, SKUAST-Kashmir and was sponsored by Science & Engineering Research Board (SERB), Govt. of India under its Accelerate Vigyan Scheme.
The workshop was held from 25th July – 1st August 2022, wherein more than 25 postgraduate scholars of SKUAST-Kashmir actively participated and deliberated on the theme with the experts of repute from regional and national levels in a thorough scientific manner. Prof. Mohammad Tufail Banday, Dean FVSc & AH, Shuhama, SKUAST-Kashmir was the Chief Guest in the valedictory session of the workshop and was accompanied by Prof. Abdul Hai, Incharge Faculty Outreach Centre & Dr. Shabeer Ahmad Hamdani, the event organizer on the dais.
In addition to participants, the inaugural session was attended by many faculty scientists and organizing committee members in a well-organized function held at SKUAST-K’s Outreach Centre at Shuhama.
In his inaugural address Prof. Mohammad Tufail Banday highlighted the need and importance of understanding the issues pertaining to food security and safety related to animal origin.
He further stressed upon on the need to have a better liaison among different stakeholders on the theme alongside the capacity building of human resource in this regard. Prof. Banday congratulated the organizers of the event & appreciated the efforts of the Div. of Vety. & AH Extension for its enhanced role in capacity building and other livestock based awareness programmes held regularly at Faculty Outreach Centre FVSc & AH, Shuhama.
Prof. Abdul Hai, Incharge Faculty Outreach Centre formally welcomed the guests and also spoke on the various aspects of the workshop.
Prof. Has emphasized on the importance of having such kind of programmes in place for the development of budding researchers to uptake future challenges.
Earlier, Dr. Shabeer Ahmad Hamdani, the Event Organizer and Assistant Prof.
Div. of Veterinary & Animal Husbandry Extension gave a brief account about the sessions held during the workshop and genesis of the event. Dr. Hamdani also appraised the audience the various exposure visits held during the course of workshop and hoped the same would have sensitized the young researchers on the theme and provide an opportunity to acquire specialized skills.
The valedictory function ended with the formal vote of thanks proposed by Dr. Afzal H Akand Associate Prof. Div. of Veterinary & Animal Husbandry Extension, FVSc & AH Shuhama while the event was hosted by Dr. Andleeb Rafiq, Assistant Prof. Div. of Veterinary Anatomy and Histology.
The participants of workshop were presented with certificates and mementos for their active participation during last 7 days at Shuhama campus of SKUAST-K following a brief post feedback session.KNZ
