January 26: 71st Republic Day was celebrated today across the Kashmir valley.
Police and other security forces besides students from various schools and colleges participated in Republic Day parades in all the districts of Kashmir valley.
Various contingents of police, Home Guards, Fire & Emergency Services, Forest Protection Forces, IRP and CAPFs participated in Republic Day parades in Kashmir valley.
In Srinagar, Advisor to Governor Shri Farooq Ahmad Khan unfurled the National flag and took salute at the march past. After the parade, colourful cultural programmes depicting the life and culture of valley were presented. Participants at the event were rewarded for their performances.
In other districts of the valley, Republic Day parades were held during which the national flag was unfurled and parade contingents marched.
At Anantnag, Republic Day was celebrated at Government Boys Degree College Khanabal, in which Additional District Development Commissioner Shri Nazir Ahmad Khawaja took salute at the march past.
At Pulwama, Republic Day was celebrated with enthusiasm in District Police Lines Pulwama. DC Pulwama Shri Dr. Raghav Langer (IAS) unfurled the National Flag and took salute on the parade. Respective government departments also highlighted the benefits of various schemes so as to create awareness among the general masses.
At Awantipora, Republic Day was celebrated at District Police Lines Awantipora in which Additional Deputy Commissioner Awantipora Shri Shabir Ahmad Raina-KAS unfurled the national flag, inspected the parade and took salute at the march-past.
At Shopian, Republic Day was celebrated at District Police Lines Shopian. Deputy Commissioner Shopian Shri Choudhary Mohammad Yasin unfurled the tricolor and took salute at the march past.
At Kupwara, Republic day was celebrated at District Police Lines Kupwara. Deputy Commissioner Kupwara Shri Anshul Garg-IAS unfurled the National Flag and took the salute at the March Past.
At Ganderbal, Republic Day was celebrated at Physical College Ground Gadoora Ganderbal. Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal Shri Hashmat Ali unfurled the National Flag and took the salute at the March Past.
At Budgam, Republic Day was celebrated at Aga Syed Memorial Cricket Ground. Deputy Commissioner Budgam Shri Tariq Hussain Ganie unfurled the National Flag and took the salute at the March Past. At Baramulla, Republic Day was celebrated at District Police Lines Baramulla. Deputy Commissioner Baramulla Dr. Ghulam Nabi Itoo unfurled the National Flag and took the salute at the March Past.
At Kulgam, Republic Day was celebrated at District Police Lines Kulgam. Deputy Commissioner Kulgam Shri Aijaz Ahmad unfurled the National Flag and took the salute at the March Past.
At Handwara, Republic Day was celebrated at District Police Lines Handwara. Additional Deputy Commissioner Handwara Shri Shri Nazir Ahmad unfurled the National Flag and took the salute at the March Past.
At Sopore, Republic Day was celebrated at Khushal Stadium Tulibal Sopore. Additional Deputy Commissioner Sopore Shri Ashiq Hussain Lilly unfurled the National Flag and took the salute at the March Past.
At Bandipora, Republic Day was celebrated at S.K Stadium Bandipora. Deputy Commissioner Bandipora Shri Shahbaz Ahmad Mirza unfurled the National Flag and took the salute at the March Past. Various colourful cultural programmes were also presented. The prizes were distributed among the best contingents of parade, cultural programmes, meritorious students and other participants. Large number of people witnessed the functions in all districts of Kashmir valley.
