Rajouri, Sep 29: A live grenade was recovered from the river near Sora Bridge in Thannamandi on Sunday and was later destroyed, officials said.
An official told the news agency Kashmir Bulletin, that a live grenade was recovered and destroyed in the Thannamandi Rajouri river near Sora Bridge.
He said soon authorities were alerted to the situation and promptly responded to ensure public safety.
He added that upon recovery, the grenade was deemed unsafe for handling, and expert teams were deployed to the scene, where they safely destroyed the grenade without incident.
Meanwhile, authorities are investigating how the grenade ended up in the river, and more details are awaited.—(KB)
