Baramulla Oct 23 : Hundreds of residents in Sopore organized a peaceful candlelight march today, expressing their grief and anger over the tragic killing of seven innocent civilians at the Z-Morh tunnel construction site in Gagangeer Ganderbal on 20th October.
The march, which began at Degree College Sopore, proceeded to the iconic Clock Tower, with participants condemning the senseless loss of life.
Carrying candles and placards, the residents of Sopore called for justice for the victims and an immediate investigation into the incident.
The killings, which have sparked widespread outrage across the region, have been met with strong demands for accountability and increased security measures to protect civilian workers at construction sites.
“We are here to raise our voices against this brutal act. Innocent civilians should never have to suffer such violence,” said one of the participants.
The demonstrators emphasized the need for peace and security in conflict-prone areas, while also urging authorities to ensure the safety of workers engaged in vital infrastructure projects.
The candlelight march remained peaceful, with local authorities facilitating the gathering and ensuring security throughout the route.
