Srinagar, Oct 26, KNT: In a remarkable display of medical expertise, Dr. Mir Sammiullah, a distinguished surgeon, has successfully performed a rare and complex surgery at MedStar Medical Centre in Nowgam.
The eight-hour procedure involved the removal of pancreatic cancer that had spread to the portal vein.
Hospital management said that a patient from South Kashmir’s Shopian underwent the high-risk surgery, known as Whipple’s procedure, accompanied by portal vein reconstruction.
Defying odds, the patient is recovering remarkably well and is poised for discharge.
Notably, this intricate surgery carries an exceptionally high mortality and complication rate, even in the world’s top medical institutions.
“Dr. Mir Sammiullah’s exceptional skill and expertise have made this medical breakthrough possible, offering new hope to patients facing similar life-threatening conditions,” said the hospital located in Srinagar outskirts in Nowgam Bypass. [KNT]
