‘Scores of two-wheelers driven by unlicensed individuals seized’
Srinagar, Nov 15, KNT: Senior Superintendent of Police Traffic Srinagar City, Muzaffar Ahmad Shah today revealed shocking details about yesterday’s fatal accident at Tengapora Bypass, where two students lost their lives. The investigation uncovered that a reckless racing competition was underway between two Thar Jeeps, leading to the devastating crash.
SSP Shah disclosed that the Thar Jeep that escaped the accident had already been challaned four times, and traffic authorities had even summoned the owner twice for counseling. In a stark warning, Shah emphasized that parents must take responsibility for preventing underage driving.
In a disturbing admission, SSP Muzaffar Ahmed Shah shared that authorities had previously counselled the parents of one of the deceased boys, cautioning them against allowing their child to drive. Despite this, the accident still occurred.
SSP told the news agency Kashmir News Trust that societal cooperation is crucial in combating underage driving. “Unless we receive support from society, we won’t succeed,” he said, acknowledging the discouraging role of society in addressing this issue.
Meanwhile, in response to the accident, traffic police seized scores of two-wheelers and vehicles driven by underage or unlicensed individuals across Srinagar city. [KNT]
