Ganderbal:- In a significant development, the authorities have finally cleared the garbage from the overflowing bins in Watlar, Ganderbal, bringing much needed relief to the local residents and commuters. The issue, highlighted by (KNZ) Kashmir News Zone last week, had sparked widespread concern among the residents and students of the area.
The indiscriminate disposal of waste on vacant land of Central University Kashmir (Sarkari Bagh) near the Public Higher Secondary School in Watlar had created an unsanitary environment, posing serious health hazards and disrupting daily activities. The area had become a breeding ground for diseases, with the overflowing garbage bins and stray dogs roaming the streets.
However, following the publication of the story, the Block Development Office (BDO) Lar swung into action, clearing the garbage from the bins and restoring a sense of relief to the local residents.
The residents of Watlar, who had been struggling with the garbage menace for months, expressed their gratitude to the authorities, especially BDO Lar Ulfat Ali, for taking prompt action.
We are thankful to the BDO Lar and the authorities for clearing the garbage from the bins, said Fayaz Ahmad, a local resident. The area was becoming a health hazard, and we were worried about the safety of our children. We hope that the authorities will continue to monitor the situation and ensure that the garbage is cleared regularly he added.
Another resident echoed similar sentiments, saying that the clearance of garbage from the bins has not only improved the sanitation in the area but has also reduced the risk of diseases and infections.
BDO Lar, Ulfat Ali, said that the office had taken immediate action to address the issue. We have taken concrete steps to ensure that the garbage is cleared regularly, and we’re committed to maintaining a clean environment for the residents of Lar, Ulfat said. We will continue to closely monitor the situation, identify areas for improvement, and work tirelessly towards providing better sanitation services to the residents of Lar. She said our goal is to create a healthier, more sustainable community, and we’re dedicated to achieving it.
