Bandipora: In a major breakthrough in its sustained drive against drug trafficking, Sumbal Police arrested a notorious drug peddler and recovered a large quantity of contraband substance. The accused has been identified as Sameer Ahmad Dar@Shatru , son of Abdul Hamid Dar, a resident of Wangipora Bala, Sumbal.

According to police sources, a naka was established by Sumbal Police near the CRPF Tarring Ground, Sumbal. During routine checking, the suspect was intercepted and subjected to a thorough search, which led to the recovery of 11.50 kilograms of Charas Chura from his possession. He was immediately taken into custody.

Police stated that the accused is a known drug peddler and has been previously involved in several criminal cases. His arrest is being viewed as a significant step toward curbing the growing menace of drug abuse in the area.

In this regard, an FIR has been registered at Police Station Sumbal under relevant sections of law, and further investigation is underway to trace forward and backward linkages of the drug network. Police reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring a drug-free society.
