April 26: Continuing its sustained crackdown against illegal mining activities, Police intercepted and seized five vehicles involved in the transportation of illegally extracted minerals in Anantnag and Awantipora.
Police in Anantnag intercepted and seized three tractors involved in the transportation of illegally extracted minerals during the intervening night at Dehruna. Upon inspection, the tractors were found to be carrying illegally extracted minerals in violation of relevant laws.
All three vehicles were seized on the spot. In this regard, a formal case has been registered and investigation has been taken up to ascertain further involvement and identify other persons engaged in such unlawful activities.
Similarly in Awantipora, Police seized one excavator machine and one dumper during patrolling at Ladhoo, involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals.
Both the excavator and dumper have been taken into custody. Accordingly, a case FIR No. 34/2026 has been registered in the Police Station Khrew further investigation has been initiated.
Police reiterates its commitment to curb illegal mining and appeals to the general public to cooperate with law enforcement agencies by sharing information regarding such activities.
