Anantnag, May 12 (KNC): In a major action against illegal activities and encroachments, the Revenue Department Anantnag, in coordination with Kulgam Police, on Tuesday carried out a demolition drive at Drinen Qazigund against an wanted drug peddler.
Officials said that two illegally constructed shops raised on state land by Zahoor Ahmad Sheikh, son of Mohammad Jamal Sheikh, a resident of Drinen, were demolished during the operation.
The demolition drive was conducted peacefully and concluded without any law and order disturbance, officials added.
Police said the accused is involved in several criminal cases, including FIR No. 150/2018, FIR No. 251/2020, FIR No. 87/2020 and FIR No. 101/2023. Besides these cases, he is also reportedly involved in five other local and stone-pelting related cases.
Authorities said the action was part of ongoing efforts to curb illegal activities and maintain law and order in the area. (KNC)
