Six Gamblers Arrested in Pahalgam, Cash Worth ₹18,260 Recovered

Anantnag, May 16 (KNC): Continuing its drive against unlawful activities, Anantnag Police on Friday detained six persons allegedly involved in gambling in the tourist destination of Pahalgam and recovered stake money from their possession.

 

Officials said a police team from Police Station Pahalgam, during routine patrolling near Lidder Park close to Sumo Stand No. 1, noticed several individuals gambling openly at a public place. Acting swiftly, the police party raided the spot and apprehended all the accused involved in the activity.

 

The arrested persons were identified as Mohd Amin Lone, Farooq Ahmad Dar, Ab Rehman Raina, Nazir Ahmad Lone, Gh Nabi Mir and Lateef Ahmad Laway, all residents of different areas of Pahalgam and nearby villages.

 

Police said playing cards and cash amounting to ₹18,260, believed to be stake money, were seized during the operation.

 

A case under relevant sections of law has been taken up and further investigation has been initiated.

 

Meanwhile, Anantnag Police appealed to the public to cooperate with law enforcement agencies and share information regarding any unlawful activities in their localities.(KNC)
