Manasbal Dev Authority holds sanitation, anti-drug rallies

 

Manasbal, May 16: The Wullar Manasbal Development Authority(WMDA), in collaboration with Sainik School Manasbal, a local volunteer group-QRT and a local school, today held a series of awareness camps and sanitation drives in the catchment areas of Manasbal lake to raise awareness among people and stakeholders about conserving the famous water body and ill effects of substance abuse.

 

The rallies and drives were conducted by WMDA as part of 100 Day Nasha Mukt Abhiyan launched across Jammu & Kashmir recently on 11th April, 2026 .

 

During the rally and drives, the participants, comprising students, volunteers and officials of WMDA highlighted the need for maintaining ecological balance and maintaining sanitation around the lake. They also underscored the need for curbing the drug menace in the society by highlighting its ill effects.

 

Chief Executive Officer, Wullar Manasbal Development Authority, Ahsanul Haq Chishti, highlighting the importance of these issues, said the Authority would continue to conduct such drives with citizen involvement in coming days as well.

 

He said the Authority has flagged cleanliness within and around the lake as top priority and sought public cooperation in maintaining the same.
