One More Drug Peddler Held in Safapora; Heroin-Like Substance Recovered: Ganderbal Police

Ganderbal:Ganderbal Police on Tuesday said that it apprehended another drug peddler and recovered contraband substance from his possession in the Safapora area of Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan.

According to police, a snap naka was established by Police Station Safapora at Kulpora near the Sericulture Farm. During naka checking, a suspicious person travelling from the Nainara-Sumbal side towards Safapora attempted to flee after noticing the police party. However, the alert naka party acted swiftly and apprehended him on the spot.

The accused has been identified as Yawar Rasheed Wani alias Kamran, son of Abdul Rasheed Wani, a resident of Wani Mohalla Safapora.

During his personal search, police recovered approximately 07 grams of heroin-like substance from his possession, following which he was arrested on the spot.

Police said that a case under relevant sections of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Safapora and further investigation has been taken up.

Ganderbal Police reiterated its commitment towards eradicating the drug menace from society and appealed to the general public to continue supporting police in the fight against narcotics
