Bandipora, 15th June 2026 — In continuation of the ongoing drive against drug abuse, the Drugs Control Department, Bandipora, conducted inspections of various medical shops in Mantrigam, Pazalpora, Kaloosa, and adjoining areas of Bandipora under the “100 Days Nasha Mukt J&K Abhiyaan”.
During the inspection, an illegal medical shop operating at Sheikh Mohalla, Kaloosa, Bandipora, allegedly being run by Mr. Saif-u-Din Dar of Kaloosa, was identified. The shop was reportedly brought to the notice of the inspection team by local residents. Upon inspection, the establishment was found to be operating without a valid drug licence and was consequently sealed and closed down on the spot.
An on-the-spot notice was served in accordance with the provisions of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940, and was duly acknowledged by a family member of the concerned person.
The Drugs Control Department reiterated its commitment to ensuring strict compliance with the provisions of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940. The department warned that stringent action shall be taken against any person found operating an illegal medical shop. It further emphasized that government employees, if found involved in the unauthorized sale of medicines or operation of unlicensed medical establishments, may also be proceeded against under the relevant provisions of law.
The department reaffirmed its zero-tolerance policy towards violations affecting public health and stated that such enforcement drives will continue across the district in the interest of safeguarding the health and well-being of the public.
