Anantnag, 17 June 2026:Continuing its sustained drive against drug trafficking and substance abuse, Anantnag Police achieved another success by apprehending two drug peddlers and recovering a substantial quantity of contraband during naka checking in the Achabal area.
A police party from Police Station Achabal, while conducting naka checking near Achabal Garden, intercepted two suspicious individuals identified as Faisal Ahmad Mir, son of Manzoor Ahmad Mir, resident of Jogigund Achabal, and Mukhtar Ahmad Mir, son of Ghulam Rasool Mir, resident of Shelipora Achabal.
During their search, the police recovered approximately 734 grams of charas powder-like substance and 5 grams of charas tikki-like substance from their possession. The accused were immediately taken into custody and the contraband was seized in accordance with legal procedures.
In this connection, FIR No. 54/2026 under Section 8/20 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Achabal, and investigation into the matter is underway.
