Srinagar, Jun 18: PDP leader Iltija Mufti on Thursday said there should be a cap on tourist vehicles entering Kashmir to protect the valley’s fragile environment.
“The sudden traffic surge in Srinagar this year, especially the Boulevard-Nishat route, has a lot to do with tourists driving into the Valley instead of flights. Given the state of congested roads and Kashmir’s fragile environment, caps on tourist cars must be introduced,” Iltija said in a post on X.
She said the streets of the Kashmir Valley cannot handle the huge rush of vehicles.
“Neither Kashmir’s streets nor our ecology can handle this huge rush. Hope the government takes note,” she said.–(PTI)
