IGP Kashmir Reviews Security Arrangements at Kheer Bhawani Temple Ahead of Annual Mela

 

Ganderbal, June 21: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir, Shri V.K. Birdi (IPS), on Saturday reviewed the security arrangements at the revered Mata Kheer Bhawani Temple in Tulmulla, Ganderbal, ahead of the annual Mata Kheer Bhawani Mela-2026.

The IGP was accompanied by DIG Central Kashmir Range (CKR) Shri Rajiv Omprakash Pande (IPS) and SSP Ganderbal Shri Sudhanshu Dhama (IPS) during the visit. The senior officers conducted a comprehensive assessment of the security measures being put in place to ensure the smooth, peaceful, and secure conduct of the annual pilgrimage.

During the review, the IGP inspected the security grid within and around the shrine premises and assessed key arrangements, including access control, deployment of security personnel, crowd management, traffic regulation, and parking facilities for devotees.

Emphasizing the importance of vigilance and preparedness, Shri Birdi directed officers to maintain the highest standards of security and coordination to ensure a safe and hassle-free experience for pilgrims. He also stressed the need for effective traffic management and timely facilitation of essential services at the shrine and adjoining areas.

The IGP further instructed all concerned officers to work in close coordination with civil administration and other stakeholders for the successful conduct of the Mela, while ensuring that devotees are provided with all necessary assistance and facilities during their visit to the holy shrine.
