TOLIC Srinagar reviews Official Language Implementation in Kashmir

 

Srinagar, July 10, 2026:The first meeting of the Town Official Language Implementation Committee (TOLIC), Srinagar, for the year 2026 was held today at the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Srinagar, under the chairmanship of Shri Sagar Hanuman Singh, Chief Postmaster General, J&K Circle and Chairman, TOLIC Srinagar.

 

 

The meeting was attended by Heads of Offices, representatives and Nodal Officers/Hindi Officers of Central Government departments, Principals of Kendriya Vidyalayas and Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas functioning in Srinagar and other districts of Kashmir Valley, besides officers from the CRPF, ITBP and other Central Armed Police Forces.

 

 

The Chairman reviewed compliance with the provisions of Section 3(3) of the Official Language Act and called upon member offices to upgrade bilingual websites, expand the use of Unicode tools and the Bhashini AI-powered language translation platform, and organise joint Rajbhasha workshops to strengthen the implementation of the Official Language Policy.

 

 

Shri Sagar Hanuman Singh said that Central Government offices should serve as role models in promoting the Official Language by using simple, practical and easily understandable Hindi in official communication. He also urged employees of Central Government offices to undergo Hindi training courses such as Prabodh, Pragya and Praveen through online and correspondence modes to acquire working knowledge of the Official Language. Representatives of various Central Government offices also shared their suggestions for promoting the use of Hindi in official work.

 

 

The meeting was attended by Shri B.S. Rawat, Regional Passport Officer, Srinagar, Shri Ifham Ul Islam, Information Service Officer, PIB Srinagar, and Shri Prateek, Director Postal Services, who delivered the welcome address and proposed the vote of thanks.
