Ganderbal, July 12 (KNZ/TMJ): The body of an unidentified man was recovered from the Sindh River in Sonamarg in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district on Sunday, officials said.

An official told Kashmir News Zone – The Media Journal that locals spotted the body floating in the river and immediately alerted the police. Acting on the information, a police team, along with rescue personnel, rushed to the spot and retrieved the body from the river.

“The identity of the deceased is yet to be established,” the official said.

The body was shifted to a hospital for medico-legal formalities, including a post-mortem examination and identification.

Police have initiated inquest proceedings under the relevant provisions of law to ascertain the identity of the deceased and the cause of death.
