J&K Police Seizes 6 Vehicles in Baramulla, ₹98,949 Fine Imposed for Illegal Mining

 

Baramulla July 14: Continuing its sustained efforts to curb illegal mining and safeguard natural resources, J&K Police in Baramulla conducted a night enforcement drive within the jurisdiction of Police Station Sheeri, resulting in action against six dumpers found involved in the illegal transportation of mining material.

 

During the operation, Police intercepted six dumpers bearing registration numbers JK05M-8085, JK05M-2847, JK05K-3161, JK05K-4926, JK05K-9911 and JK01AQ-6609. Upon verification, the vehicles were found transporting mining material in violation of the prescribed norms. The matter was immediately brought to the notice of the Department of Geology & Mining for necessary legal action. Following inspection by the concerned department, a total penalty of ₹98,949 was imposed on the violators under the relevant provisions of law.

 

Police reiterates its commitment to protecting the environment and ensuring strict enforcement against illegal mining activities. Such enforcement drives will continue across the district, and stern legal action will be taken against all violators.
