Ganderbal, July 15 : As part of the extensive security preparations for the ongoing Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra (SANJY-2026), Ganderbal Police carried out high-intensity joint mock drills at Pandith Colony, Manigam, and Thajwas in Sonamarg to enhance operational readiness and ensure a swift, coordinated response to any emergency.
At Pandith Colony, Manigam, the exercise was led by the Special Operations Group (SOG) Ganderbal in close coordination with the Indian Army and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs). Simultaneously, another mock drill was conducted at Thajwas, Sonamarg, involving Police Station Sonamarg, Tourist Police, and CAPFs, further reinforcing the multi-layered security framework along the Yatra route and surrounding areas.
The drills were designed to assess the preparedness, coordination, and rapid response capabilities of all participating agencies in dealing with a range of contingency scenarios. The exercises focused on tactical intervention, area domination, evacuation procedures, crowd management, seamless inter-agency coordination, and the effective neutralization of potential security threats.
These joint exercises underscore the unwavering commitment of Ganderbal Police, working in close synergy with the Indian Army, Tourist Police, and CAPFs, to maintaining a robust security grid and ensuring a safe, secure, and peaceful pilgrimage for thousands of Shri Amarnath Ji Yatris.
