Srinagar, July 17, KNT: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti on Friday expressed concern over reports surrounding the killing of a civilian in Doda district and called for an impartial investigation to establish the facts and ensure accountability.
In a statement shared on social media, Mehbooba referred to reports claiming that a civilian, identified as Arif Hussain, was allegedly stabbed and later shot dead. She also expressed concern over the reported suspension of internet services in the district following the incident.
Describing the reports as “deeply disturbing”, the former Chief Minister said the administration must act swiftly to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the incident and ensure accountability wherever required.
She further cautioned against any situation in which allegations of cattle smuggling could be used as a pretext for violence, saying Jammu and Kashmir must not be allowed to witness such incidents. [KNT]
