Ganderbal, July 22(KNZ/TMJ): In a major security operation, Ganderbal Police on Wednesday carried out coordinated raids across central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district, detaining more than 100 suspected Over Ground Workers (OGWs) for questioning as part of efforts to dismantle terror-support networks and maintain public order.

According to a police statement, the district-wide operation was launched on the basis of specific intelligence inputs and a detailed assessment of the prevailing security situation. Simultaneous raids were conducted at multiple locations by different police teams.

The detained individuals are being questioned in accordance with the law to verify their alleged involvement, if any, in activities prejudicial to the security of the Union Territory, the statement said.

Police said the operation is part of its sustained campaign to identify, disrupt and dismantle networks that provide logistical or other support to terrorist elements, while ensuring the safety and security of the public.

“Ganderbal Police remains committed to maintaining peace, preserving communal harmony and ensuring a secure environment for all citizens. Strict legal action will continue against anyone found involved in activities threatening public order or national security,” the statement added.(KNZ/TMJ)
