Ganderbal, Jul 28 (KNZ/TMJ): Thirty-nine Amarnath Yatra pilgrims were injured after a bus skidded off the road at the treacherous S-Mode stretch in the Hariganiwan area of Gund in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district on Tuesday, officials said.

An official told Kashmir News Zone-the media journal that the bus, bearing registration number AR11D/5655, lost control on the stretch and veered off the road, triggering a rescue operation, they said.

Personnel of the CRPF’s 118 Battalion, the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), the Health Department and the Civil Police rescued the injured and shifted them to Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Kangan. The pilgrims were later referred to SKIMS Soura for specialised treatment, officials said.

The injured pilgrims are from Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Delhi, they said.

Police have taken cognisance of the accident, while the exact cause of the mishap is being ascertained, officials added.(KNZ/TMJ)
