Ganderbal, August 9: Ganderbal Police has achieved a significant breakthrough in an NDPS case by establishing the backward linkage from street-level peddlers to their alleged supplier, leading to the arrest of three persons and the recovery of approximately 63 grams of heroin-like substance along with ₹20,950 in suspected drug proceeds.

According to police, the action was initiated on August 7, 2026, during naka checking at Warpora Crossing, where two persons, identified as Javaid Ahmad Dar and Arbaz Ahmad Reshi, allegedly attempted to flee after noticing the naka party. They were apprehended by the police, and approximately 11 grams of heroin-like substance was recovered from their possession.

During the subsequent investigation and backward-linkage verification, police allegedly traced the source of supply to Ajaz Ahmad Dar of Chowdribagh, Ganderbal. A search of his premises reportedly resulted in the recovery of approximately 52 grams of heroin-like substance and ₹20,950 in cash, suspected to be proceeds of drug trafficking. He was subsequently arrested in accordance with law.

Police said that a total of three persons have been arrested and approximately 63 grams of heroin-like substance recovered in connection with FIR No. 131/2026, registered under relevant provisions of the NDPS Act at Police Station Ganderbal.

The seized substance has been secured as per due procedure, while samples are being forwarded to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) for examination. Further investigation is underway to identify additional linkages and persons allegedly involved in the drug supply network.

Ganderbal Police reiterated its commitment to dismantling the entire drug supply chain and taking stringent legal action against those involved in drug trafficking.
