Pulwama Police Recover 41 Stolen Sheep, Two Booked; Vehicle Seized

 

Pulwama, August 19: Pulwama Police have recovered 41 stolen sheep during naka checking at Urwan and booked two persons in connection with the transportation of the stolen livestock. The vehicle allegedly used in the offence has also been seized.

 

According to officials, a police party from Police Post Newa intercepted a Tata Mobile bearing registration number JK03N-2440 during naka checking. The vehicle was travelling from Parigam towards Newa when its occupants allegedly attempted to evade the police party.

 

Upon checking the vehicle, police found 41 sheep loaded inside. The occupants failed to provide a satisfactory or lawful explanation regarding the possession and transportation of the livestock.

 

The two persons were identified as Zakir Hussain Khari, son of Farooq Ahmad Khari, a resident of Nethul, Reasi, presently residing at Mir Bazar, Kulgam, and Mushtaq Ahmad Khari, son of Bagh-ud-Din Khari, a resident of Munigam, Qazigund, Kulgam.

 

During verification, the livestock was found to be stolen property. Subsequently, FIR No. 149/2026 was registered at Police Station Pulwama under relevant provisions of law, and an investigation was initiated.

 

Police have taken the 41 sheep and the Tata Mobile into custody as per law. Further investigation is underway to ascertain the ownership and source of the stolen livestock and identify other persons who may be involved in the offence.

 

The recovery highlights the vigilance and prompt response of Pulwama Police in tracing stolen property and taking action against those involved in criminal activities.
