Ganderbal, August 24: Continuing its sustained crackdown on illegal mining and transportation of minor minerals, Ganderbal Police has seized three tippers and one tractor for alleged involvement in illegal extraction and transportation of mining material.
The vehicles were seized from the jurisdictions of Police Station Lar, Police Station Gund and Police Post Nagbal after they were found allegedly extracting and transporting minor minerals without valid authorization, in violation of prescribed norms.
Following the seizures, the matter was taken up with the concerned Geology and Mining Department, which subsequently imposed the requisite fines under relevant provisions of law.
Ganderbal Police reiterated its commitment to curbing illegal mining activities and protecting natural resources in the district. The police also urged the public to cooperate with law enforcement agencies and warned that strict action would continue against those found involved in unlawful mining and transportation activities.
