Nine Tippers Seized in Two-Day Crackdown on Illegal Mining Across Baramulla

Baramulla 24 August: The Geology and Mining Department has intensified its enforcement drive against illegal extraction and transportation of minor minerals, seizing nine tippers during inspections conducted over the past two days across Baramulla, Tarzoo, Sopore, Tangmarg and Pattan.

 

The action was carried out as part of a sustained crackdown on violations of mining norms and unauthorized transportation of minor minerals.

 

District Mineral Officer (DMO) Baramulla Kaiser Ahmad Lone has directed field teams to maintain strict vigil and take firm action against individuals and vehicle operators found violating the prescribed rules.

 

The department has reiterated that no leniency will be shown towards violators and that vehicles involved in illegal mining or transportation will be dealt with under the relevant provisions of law.

 

The DMO further emphasized that enforcement activities will continue across the district to curb illegal mining, protect natural resources and ensure compliance with government regulations.

 

The department has also appealed to the public to cooperate with the authorities and refrain from engaging in or supporting activities related to illegal extraction and transportation of minor minerals.
