Baramulla: In a major enforcement action against illegal mining activities, the Geology & Mining Department Baramulla seized six vehicles during raids conducted in different areas of Sopore and Pattan.
The enforcement drive was carried out on the directions of District Mineral Officer (DMO) Baramulla Kaiser Ahmad Lone, who has directed field officials to maintain strict vigil against the illegal extraction, transportation and dumping of minor minerals.
During the inspections, six vehicles allegedly found involved in violations were seized and taken into custody for further action under the relevant rules.
DMO Baramulla Kaiser Ahmad Lone has reiterated that there will be zero tolerance towards illegal mining activities, stressing that only legal and duly authorised extraction and transportation of minor minerals will be allowed.
The department has also warned vehicle owners, contractors and other persons involved in illegal mining activities to refrain from violating the prescribed norms, stating that strict action will be taken against violators.
Officials said enforcement teams will continue conducting surprise inspections and raids across the district to prevent illegal mining and ensure that mineral resources are extracted and transported strictly in accordance with the law.
