Ganderbal Aug 27(KNZ/TMJ) : Panic gripped residents of Checki Watalbagh in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district after a black bear was reportedly spotted near the Jamia Masjid in the area on Thursday.

According to locals, the bear was seen moving in the vicinity of the mosque, triggering alarm among residents and prompting people to remain indoors as a precautionary measure.

The sighting has raised fresh concerns among the local population, particularly after a recent bear attack in the Watalbagh area left a man injured.

Residents have urged the Wildlife Department to intensify patrolling in the area and take immediate measures to prevent any untoward incident and ensure the safety of people living in the vicinity.(KNZ/TMJ)
