Srinagar, Sept 2 (JKNS): The Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB) has issued Advertisement No. 09 of 2026 for recruitment to Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS) posts, prompting debate among aspirants over the prescribed educational qualification criteria.

According to the eligibility conditions cited by aspirants, who spoke to news agency JKNS, candidates possessing qualifications up to Class 12 are eligible to apply, while those holding higher qualifications, including graduation and post-graduation degrees, are reportedly excluded from the recruitment process.

The qualification ceiling has raised concerns among sections of educated youth in Jammu and Kashmir, who argue that possessing a higher educational qualification should not, by itself, disqualify a candidate from applying for an MTS post.

A section of aspirants has urged the Government and JKSSB to reconsider the upper qualification limit and allow candidates with higher educational qualifications to participate in the recruitment process.

The aspirants argue that a wider pool of candidates should be permitted to compete, with selection ultimately being determined through the prescribed examination, merit and other applicable selection criteria.

However, qualification requirements for government posts are governed by the applicable recruitment rules and administrative decisions. Any modification to the existing eligibility criteria would therefore require approval from the competent authority.

The issue has triggered discussion among JKSSB aspirants, with calls for the authorities to review the upper qualification restriction before proceeding further with the recruitment process.

The debate centres on whether possession of a higher educational qualification should constitute a disqualification for MTS recruitment or whether candidates fulfilling the prescribed minimum qualification should be allowed to compete on merit. (JKNS)
