Ganderbal sept 7(KNZ/TMJ): A search operation was launched in Thune area of Ganderbal district after a boy and a girl were reportedly seen jumping into a power canal, officials said.

According to preliminary information, the boy has been identified as Irshad Ahmad Kahi, son of Mohammad Sharif Kahi, a resident of Thune. The identity of the girl has been withheld.

Soon after receiving information about the incident, a search operation was initiated in and around the power canal to trace the two persons.

Police and other personnel are engaged in the search operation, while further details regarding the circumstances leading to the incident are awaited.
