Sonamarg, September 17 (KNC): Fresh snowfall was reported on Thursday from the higher reaches of Zojila Pass and Zero Point near Sonamarg in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district, signalling an early return of wintry conditions across the high-altitude areas.

The snowfall covered the upper stretches of the mountainous terrain with a fresh layer of snow, transforming the landscape and giving the region a distinct winter-like appearance.

The fresh weather activity was accompanied by a drop in temperatures in the higher reaches, while several parts of the Kashmir Valley also experienced intermittent rainfall during the day.

The change in weather conditions has brought renewed attention to travel along high-altitude routes, particularly stretches leading towards Zojila Pass, where sudden snowfall, reduced visibility and slippery road conditions can affect vehicular movement.

Commuters and travellers heading towards the higher reaches have been advised to exercise caution and remain updated about prevailing weather and road conditions before undertaking journeys.

The fresh snowfall has also added to the seasonal charm of the Sonamarg-Zojila landscape, as colder conditions begin to set in across the mountainous belt.(KNC)
