Srinagar, Sept 29 (KNO): Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Tuesday took a dig at the BJP over its repeated assertion that Statehood would be restored at an “appropriate time,” saying the government would use the same response when asked about holding Panchayat elections.

Responding to a question from BJP MLA R.S. Pathania on the timeline for Panchayat polls in the Legislative Assembly, Omar, as per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), said: “You say appropriate time for Statehood, we will say the same for Panchayat polls.”

He added that if the BJP continued to press for clarity on Panchayat elections, the government could similarly respond that they would be conducted at an “appropriate time.”

Omar also questioned the meaning of the phrase, pointing out that the BJP itself had not clarified when that time would come or how it would be determined—(KNO)
