Baramulla 02 Oct (KNZ): The Geology and Mining Department, Baramulla, intensified its enforcement drive against illegal mining and unauthorized transportation of minerals, seizing three vehicles and one JCB during an operation carried out in the district.
The enforcement action was conducted with the assistance of Police Post Mirgund, with the joint team checking suspected violations and taking action against vehicles and machinery allegedly involved in illegal mining-related activities.
The seized vehicles and JCB have been taken into custody for further proceedings under the applicable mining laws and regulations.
District Mineral Officer (DMO) Baramulla, Kaiser Ahmed, said that the department has adopted a strict approach towards illegal mining, unauthorized extraction and transportation of minor minerals. He stated that enforcement drives will continue across the district and that violations will invite action as per law.
The DMO also urged people engaged in mining and transportation activities to obtain the necessary permissions and comply with the prescribed rules to avoid legal action.
The department maintained that such operations will be carried out regularly to prevent illegal extraction of natural resources and ensure proper regulation of mining activities in the district.KNZ
