Ganderbal, October 03: Continuing its sustained crackdown on illegal mining and transportation of minerals, J&K Police has seized 25 vehicles, including 19 tractors and six tippers, in Ganderbal district within the past week for their alleged involvement in the illegal extraction and transportation of minor minerals.
According to police, the vehicles were found involved in the extraction and transportation of mining material without valid authorization and in violation of prescribed rules and regulations.
The seized vehicles were taken into custody on the spot, and the matter was subsequently referred to the concerned Geology & Mining Department for further action. The department imposed requisite fines under the relevant provisions of law.
Police said the drive is part of its continued efforts to curb illegal mining activities and protect the district’s natural resources.
J&K Police has urged the public to cooperate with law enforcement agencies and refrain from engaging in unauthorized mining or transportation of minerals, warning that strict action will continue against violators.
