J&K ACB Registers DA Case Against Gandoh Revenue Official; Properties in Doda, Jammu Searched

Four Commercial Buildings, Two Residential Properties, Plots, Vehicle and Bank Accounts Under Scrutiny; Probe Continues

DODA, OCTOBER 23 (KNC): The Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has initiated a disproportionate assets investigation against a revenue official posted at Gandoh in Doda district after verification allegedly indicated that his assets exceeded his known lawful sources of income.

According to an official statement, the ACB has registered FIR No. 03/2026 under Section 13(1)(b), read with Section 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, at Police Station ACB Doda against Mohd. Iqbal, son of Late Ghulam Qadir, a resident of Goilbar Alni, Gangota, who is presently serving as a Girdawar at Tehsil Headquarters Gandoh.

Verification Raises Questions Over Alleged Asset Accumulation

The case follows a verification conducted by the ACB’s Doda-Kishtwar-Ramban (DKR) unit into allegations that the official had accumulated movable and immovable assets in his own name and in the names of his family members.

The bureau’s preliminary findings reportedly identified several properties and financial assets whose estimated value was allegedly disproportionate to the official’s known lawful income.

Commercial and Residential Properties Under Scanner

As per the ACB, the assets identified during verification allegedly include four commercial buildings, two residential buildings, two plots located in Doda and Jammu districts, a vehicle, costly household articles and bank accounts, among other assets.

The bureau has stated that the findings provided prima facie grounds for registering a case under the relevant provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act.

ACB Conducts Searches at Multiple Locations

As part of the investigation, the ACB secured a search warrant from the competent court and carried out searches at residential and commercial premises, along with an office associated with the accused official in Doda and Jammu districts.

The searches were conducted in the presence of magistrates and independent witnesses, the official statement said.

Investigation Launched to Establish Facts

The ACB has initiated further investigation to examine the source, ownership and acquisition of the assets under scrutiny and determine whether the alleged accumulation is supported by lawful sources of income.

The investigation remains ongoing, and further details may emerge as the agency examines the relevant records and financial transactions.

The allegations remain subject to investigation and judicial proceedings. Registration of an FIR does not establish guilt, and the accused is entitled to due process of law.(KNC)
