SSP Awantipora Chairs Thana Diwas at Khrew, Assures Prompt Redressal of Public Grievances

Awantipora, October 29: Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Awantipora, Irshad H. Rather (JKPS), on Thursday chaired a Thana Diwas programme at Police Station Khrew, witnessing participation from local residents, traders and other members of the public.

The programme was organised to strengthen police-public relations and provide a platform for citizens to raise their grievances and discuss issues concerning public safety, law and order and other local concerns.

SDPO Pampore, SHO Police Station Khrew and other police officers were also present on the occasion.

During the interaction, participants highlighted various issues related to public safety, traffic management and other matters affecting the local community. SSP Awantipora gave a patient hearing to the participants and assured them that genuine grievances would be examined and addressed on priority in accordance with the law.

Discussions also focused on drug abuse, tenant verification, traffic violations, crime prevention and strengthening community policing. The SSP encouraged citizens to maintain close coordination with the police and share their suggestions for improving public safety and policing services.

Emphasising the importance of community participation in maintaining peace and public order, SSP Awantipora urged citizens, particularly youth, to stay away from drug abuse, remain vigilant against online fraud and cybercrime, and refrain from anti-social activities.

He also appealed to the public to share timely information about suspicious or unlawful activities to help police prevent crime and take appropriate legal action.

The SSP further encouraged business establishments and shopkeepers to install CCTV cameras wherever required, in accordance with applicable directions, to strengthen surveillance and enhance public safety.

He informed participants that Awantipora Police has established a dedicated helpline, 7051404859, for reporting illegal mining and other criminal activities. He urged citizens to share information about violations to assist police in initiating timely legal action against offenders.

Reiterating the department’s commitment to accessible, transparent and responsive policing, SSP Awantipora said community cooperation was vital for combating the drug menace, preventing crime and safeguarding peace and communal harmony.

The programme concluded with an appeal to citizens to continue cooperating with the police in maintaining law and order and strengthening mutual trust between the police and the public.
