Pulwama Oct 09 [KNZ]: Clashes erupted in Pahoo village of Pulwama district after locals caught a person accusing him of cutting braid of a woman. A witness said that local residents beat up the suspect and also protested against the ‘rising’ incidents of braid-cutting in Kashmir.
The locals blocked the Srinagar-Pulwama road.
In the meantime, the police reached the spot and asked the locals to hand over the suspect him to them. The locals however refused to do so, triggering clashes.
“Youth pelted the police with stones and police lobbed several shells to disperse them,” a local resident said.
Later the police detained the person. According to police, the person is a drug addict and had gone to get ‘Charas’ from the field when locals saw him.
