SRINAGAR: At least thirteen shops were gutted after a massive fire broke out at Gojwara Chowk in Srinagar on Friday. The cause of fire was not yet known but eyewitnesses said the blaze erupted at 2.10 am in a shop and quickly spread to adjacent shops and property worth crores of rupees was destroyed.
They said locals came out of their houses and made a valiant attempt to douse the fire as fire tenders reached the site two hours late.
Officials of fire services and police didn’t reveal the details till this report was filled.
