Two militants who were killed in an encounter at Karan Nagar, Srinagar on Tuesday were laid to rest on Wednesday at Sheeri area of Boniyar in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district while as another militant who died in a road mishap at Warpora area of Sopore on Monday morning was also buried at Sheeri.

Official sources told that the bodies of the two fidayeen militants of Lashkar-e-Toiba outfit were on Wednesday handed over to the local Auqaf committee at Sheeri for burial.

The body of another militant reportedly identified as Chota Dujhana of Pakistan who died along with his associate Owais Ahmad in a road mishap at Warpora, Sopore on Monday was also handed over to the Auqaf committee for burial.

While the two militants killed in Karan Nagar attack were laid to rest on Wednesday, the Chota Dujhana was buried late Tuesday evening.

A senior police officer told that the identity of the slain militants could not be established so far even as the incriminating material recovered from them suggested that they belong to LeT.

“And as such, after conducting all the legal formalities the bodies of the duo were handed over to the committee in Sheeri for burial,” he said.

Regarding the body of another militant who died in a road mishap, the officer said, “After proper investigations, we came to know that he too is a foreign militant and was reportedly Chota Dujhana. His body was yesterday evening handed over to the committee after all legal medico formalities for last rites.”
